Description: Radio Shack sold a number of interesting mini-amplifiers from 1969-1980. A few were exceptional and many were quite decent. The SA-100 was the first in the line of their better performing mini-amplifiers. When introduced in 1969, its relatively heavyweight, high quality construction, with attractive front panel and wooden end panels, set it apart from the cheap, lightweight mini-amps that both preceded it and followed it. A classier modern look THIS OFFERING IS FOR THE REALISTIC SA-100 AMPLIFIER WITH A PAIR OF JVC FSSD9 SPEAKERS. The JVC speakers are cosmetically beautiful and their sound is surprisingly good They were introduced as part of JVC's "Executive" series of high quality compact stereos in the late 1990's. These speakers provide a pleasant listening experience with good imaging and detail. They feature a carefully crafted cone speaker made with hyper-aramid fiber set in a diecast aluminum frame. The wooden trim and a classic layout on the amplifier go nicely with the cherrywood speakers and the little amp's performance far exceeds that of most of the mini-amps that were common in the 1960's and 1970's. When combined with JVC's excellent Executive series mini-speakers, you end up with a compact system that looks retro-great and delivers remarkably decent sound for such small drivers. The SA-100 amplifier performed well with many of the entry level speakers that Radio Shack and others offered. It is a fun amplifier to use with a number of small single driver speakers including Realistic Solo-1, Minimus 8 , Solo-103 and JVC Executive Series. Many of the FSSD9 in our current stock have wood trim that is in better condition than the pair in our photographs. As compared to the JVC FSSD990, the FSSD9 offers a bit better performance by placing from a similar driver in a somewhat larger, less styled cylindical enclosure. The best performing Executive series speaker was the UX 7000 which places a high performance driver in a small more cubical enclosure --it is a true gem of a mini-speaker which has won great praise for for outstanding sonic quality. We list systems with these separately. Purchasers East of the Mississippi may receive a refund of any excess shipping charges. We keep several amps in stock and are able to do exchanges if you report any problems within 60 days of purchase.
