Description: VICTOR/JVC-QL5…..Quartz lock direct drive and manual operation—-meaning you cue up the tonearm at the beginning and at the end of play. This operates at 100V, so a step-down converter ($30ish) is recommended and not included. This machine DOES NOT INCLUDE a cartridge/stylus. I will include the pictured JVC headshell. The machine has been covered in real wood German Beech veneer, treated with Watco Danish Oil, then followed by multiple coats of satin poly. There are a few defects in the veneer and finish but overall appearance is quite beautiful. The dust cover does not quite fully close without a little nudge—i believe the thickness of the veneer has changed the dimensions slightly. I completely disassembled this machine and did a meticulous deep cleaning...cleaned the switches..lubricated the spindle.. added fresh dampening oil….and sound/functions tested this for a few hours. Both speeds lock in using Quartz lock. The brake is immediate and firm. Condition is quite nice throughout.…the platter is bright with some oxidation .. the mat is soft and pliable ….all four feet are in good shape…the cover is in good condition with some surface swirling and scratches along with a repaired small crack at the left hinge point. There is a noticeable “yellowing” of the cover common in JVCs but overall appearance is good. I repaired the missing connector on the ground wire. . If you’re looking...then you know that this is a “statement” piece...is attractive to the eye and ear...and is not like any other QL5 you’ll find. I got this unit right…so I’m passing on the savings with what I believe is an attractive price. I will ship utilizing FedEx to any of the contiguous 48 states. I pack with great care and fully insure for shipping. I use double walled heavy duty boxes reinforced with foam board in the corners. Believe me when I say I Don’t want transit damage more than you don’t. Due to the age of this device and the uncertain nature of vintage electronics this device is being sold AS IS with no returns. This is NOT a new machine...as such, it does not come with any guarantee implied or written. This machine will come partially disassembled. You will need to mount the platter—and the drive belt in belt drive machines—the counterweight..and in some cases the anti-skate weight. DO NOT operate the machine without first properly balancing and setting the appropriate tracking weight.
