Small Axe is a British-American anthology film series that premiered on BBC One on 11/15/20 and on Amazon Prime Video on 11/20/20. The five original films are set from the late 1960s to the mid 1980s and tells the personal stories of London's West Indian community, whose lives have been shaped by their own force of will despite rampant racism and discrimination. "Small Axe" refers to an African proverb that means together we are strong and was later popularized by the 1973 Bob Marley track ("So if you are the big tree / We are the small axe / Ready to cut you down").
