Description: Excellent condition Monojet Model M, Majer B cal Monojet Model MV Delco Rochester GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Monojet carburetor is a single bore downdraft carburetor of new design. It has triple venturi coupled with a refined metering system which re- sults in a unit which has superior fuel mixture con- trol and performance. A plain tube nozzle is used in conjunction with the multiple venturi. Fuel flow through the main. metering system is controlled by a mechanically and vacuum operated variable orifice jet. This con- sists of a specially tapered rod which operates in the fixed orifice main metering jet and is connected directly by linkage to the main throttle shaft. A vac- uum operated enrichment system is used in con- junction with the main metering system to provide good performance during moderate to heavy accel- erations. A separate and adjustable idle system is used in conjunction with the main metering system to meet fuel mixture requirements during engine idle and low speed operation. The off-idle discharge port is of a vertical slot design which gives good transition between curb idle and main metering system opera- tion. The idle system incorporates a hot idle compen- sator on some models, where necessary, to main- tain smooth engine idle during periods of extreme hot engine operation. The main metering system has an adjustable flow feature which enables production to control the fuel mixture more accurately than ever before attain- able. The Monojet carburetor is designed so that a manual or automatic choke system can be used. The conventional choke valve is located in the air horn bore. On automatic choke models the vacuum diaphragm unit is an integral part of the air horn. The automatic choke coil is manifold mounted and connects to the choke valve shaft by connecting linkage. The choke system has a new feature to give added enrichment during cold start. This feature greatly reduces starting time and yet allows the use of low torque thermostatic coils for increased economy. An integral fuel filter is mounted in the fuel bowl behind the fuel inlet nut. The new fibre filter has in- creased capacity to give maximum filtration of in- coming fuel entering the carburetor bowl. Other features of the Manojet include an alumi- num throttle body for decreased weight and im- proved heat distribution, a thick throttle body to bowl insulator gasket to keep excessive engine heat from the float bowl. The carburetor has inter- Inally balanced venting through a vent hole in the air horn. An external idle vent valve is used on some models where necessary for improved hot engine idle and starting. ----------- 2 ----------- PARTS 1-Air Horn Assembly 2-Screw-Air Horn-Long 3-Screw-Air Horn-Short 4-Bracket-Air Cleaner Stud 5-Screw-Bracket Attaching 6-Idle Vent Valve Kit 7-Gasket-Air Horn 8-Choke Shaft & Lever Assembly 9-Choke Valve 10-Screw-Choke Valve 11-Lever Vacuum Break Link 12-Vacuum Break Link Assy. 13-Diaphragm-Vacuum Break 14-Cover-Vacuum Break 15-Screw-Cover 16-Choke Rod 17-Choke Lever 18-Screw-Choke Lever 19-Cam-Fast Idle 20-Screw-Cam Attaching 21-Float Bowl Assembly 22-Idle Tube Assembly 23-Jet-Main Metering 24-Ball-Pump Discharge 25-Spring-Pump Discharge 26-Guide-Pump Discharge 27-Needle and Seat Assy. 28-Gasket-Needle Seat 29-Idle Compensator Assembly 30-Gasket-Idle Compensator 31-Cover-Idle Compensator 32-Screw-Cover 33-Float Assembly 34-Hinge Pin-Float 35-Power Piston Assembly 36-Spring-Power Power Piston 37-Rod-Power Piston 38-Metering Rod & Spring Assembly 39-Filter Nut-Fuel Inlet 40-Gasket-Filter Nut 41-Filter-Fuel Inlet 42-Spring-Fuel Filter 43-Screw-Slow Idle 44-Pump Assembly 45-Lever-Pump Actuating 46-Spring-Pump Return 47-Throttle Body Assembly 48-Gasket-Throttle Body 49-Idle Needle 50-Spring-Idle Needle 51-Screw-Throttle Body 52-Lever-Pump and Power Rods 53-Screw-Lever Attaching 54-Link-Power Piston Rod 55-Link-Pump Lever ----------- 3 ----------- United O Deloo IN 931A Bulletin 9D-7 Models M, MV August 1967 File in "D" Section ROCHESTER CARBURETOR ROCHESTER PRODUCTS DIVISION GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION, ROCHESTER NEW YORK
