Description: I recently purchased a collection of fairly rare Civil War, Mexican War & Revolutionary War related books belonging to a man (now deceased) who metal detected in the Virginia and Maryland area in the 1980's, and also in NM, AZ and Texas after moving here to New Mexico in the 1990's. Watch my present and future auctions for more rare books from this collection, as well as relics from these conflicts. Please be aware that we are not professional book sellers, but we will describe condition as best as we are capable of. If condition is of the utmost importance to you, please ask questions and request more detailed photos before bidding. Very rare set!! Searching the internet, I could not find a similar 2-Volume set. History of the War of the Independence of the United States of America, by Charles Botta. Translated from Italian by George Alexander Otis. Ninth edition, in two volumes, revised and corrected, Published in 1839 by T. Brainard, New Haven. Condition: Both Volumes have been rebound, so the covers and spine are in very nice condition. The contents and text are very nice also, no markings, no loose pages, rips or tears that I could see. I didn't check every page. The pages have the typical foxing and discoloration one would expect of a book printed in 1839. Volume 1 is 472 pages, Volume 2 is 468 pages. Measures 6" x 9". Each volume has several engravings. At one time, this set was gifted to the Port Chester Library (see photos). Please study the photos for condition, and ask questions before bidding. Always glad to combine shipping if you win more than one auction. Thanks for bidding!
