Description: This is a Japanese woodblock print and I don’t know much about it. I bought it over 35 years ago in the Philadelphia area. My wife and I collected prints and drawings thinking we would open an antique shop when we retired. Now that we are retired I am selling on eBay. I put this in an acid free mat. Size- Mat 20 inches by 15 inches Picture in mat 8 1/4 inches by 13inch inches condition- really good condition. tagawa Hiroshige (歌川広重) was a prominent ukiyo-e artist who flourished during the late Edo period and the end of the Tokugawa shogunate. He is particularly renowned as a landscape artist. One of his most famous works is the series known as "The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido" (東海道五十三次). "The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido" is a collection of woodblock prints depicting the 53 post stations along the Tokaido, the highway that connected Kyoto and Edo (present-day Tokyo) during the Edo period. Created between 1833 and 1834, this series vividly captures the landscapes and scenes of travel along the Tokaido during that time.
