Description: ~ART DECO~ FASHION DESIGN MAGAZINES Box shown for illustration purposes. NOT SUPPLIED The term Art Deco refers to a style that spanned the boom of the roaring 1920s and the bust of the 1930s but as an influential visual arts design style it first appeared in France during World War I. It is an eclectic style that is often characterized by rich colors, bold geometric shapes, and lavish ornamentation. Designers sought to infuse jaded traditions with new life and to create a modern style based on a revitalised decorative language The spawning ground for this new visual culture was the French fashion industry. Collected together here on one amazing data DVD are an extensive collection of French fashion periodicals and brochures dating from this period which did much to reestablish French primacy in the world of grande luxe and haute couture fashion (note; all text is in French language). These publications are characterised by their stunning illustrations using the pochoir stenciling process and feature works by many of the leading illustrators of the day such as Georges Barbier, Paul Iribe, Pierre Brissaud, André Edouard Marty, Georges Lepape, Robert Bonfils, Charles Martin, Bernard Boutet de Monvel, Armand Vallee, Valentine J Hugo and others. Rather than simply drawing a mannequin in the outfit, like most previous fashion illustrators, these artists depicted the model in various dramatic and narrative situations. The magazines, in PDF format, are high resolution scans of the original pages so you will be reading them exactly as intended!
