Description: This antique Chinese kitchen cabinet is made of red lacquered elm wood. It was purchased by me in China and I believe it to be 80-100 years old. It measures 5’ 8” in height, 3’ 3” in width and 18” deep. This cabinet was handcrafted using traditional methods such as peg hinges and dovetail joints. It has 4 doors with hand-carved fretwork featuring 4 different Chinese characters and brass pulls (probably not original) 4 drawers and two shelves behind sliding slatted doors. There is slight damage to the carving on one door (see photos). The top section would have been used to store dishes and cookware, the drawers to store chopsticks and utensils and the bottom section would have been used for fresh foods. It is both beautiful and useful. I’m downsizing otherwise I would not be selling this lovely antique.
