Description: Antique 1890s Plaid Silk Taffeta Day Dress Blue Piping Princess Cut Lace AS IS. Here we have an authentic late 19th century day dress made from a gorgeous beige and black plaid silk fabric. The front princess seam lines and cuffs a trimmed with a bright blue silk piping. While the bodice of the dress is fitted, the skirt is gathered and ruffled, ballooning into a generous train. The train is finished with pleats. A bow lined with the blue silk fabric at the center back of the train. The bracelet length sleeves are trimmed with ruffles and a lace cuff. The center front buttons closed asymmetrically under the left breast princess seam. The many buttons run from the high neckline to the hip. The dress is unlined, however the fabric is faced with a cotton muslin. This special piece of history has been well preserved through the decades. There are no major issues to note, however there is discoloration throughout as well as some shattering to the silk. There might be minor pulls on the fabric that were missed.
