These were issued beginning in 1936 shortly before Japan invaded. It was printed by “Waterlow & Sons, Limited, London”. Waterlow printed paper money for the “Central Bank of China” from 1914 until 1940. “The Central Bank of China” was located in Nanking (now Nanjing), China. After the “Chinese Civil War”, the bank was relocated to Taiwan by the Nationalist government. The bank was renamed to the “Central Bank of the Republic of China” in 1949. In 1961, the bank was replaced by the “Bank of Taiwan” as the central bank of Taiwan On July 7, 1937 the "Second Sino-Japanese War" began and Japan invaded China.
