Description: Here's a stereo view card showing future president Theodore Roosevelt after he returned from Cuba at the time of the Spanish American War. He had resigned his federal job as Assistant Secretary of the Navy to get a bunch of guys he knew, rich and educated as well as cow poke types from his days as a North Dakota rancher, together into a New York State Volunteer Unit which got nick named The Rough Riders. TR received the rank of Lt. Colonel and went out and had a special uniform designed for him at Brooks Brothers since, after all, he was financially loaded, himself. He's wearing it in this pose. After his unit's military exploits in that conflict, TR became an American war hero, which launched him to become elected New York Governor. After a short time, because he was a political boat rocker, he got placed on the 1900 national ticket with William McKinley as V.P. That spot is generally considered a dead-end job. That is until your boss gets assassinated, and you become president yourself and have even more of a whirlwind career. He even won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1906 for helping negotiate the treaty ending the bloody Russia-Japanese War, and this all may be why TR got placed on Mt. Rushmore. This is in nice condition but please look at our images to judge condition for yourself so you can be happy with your purchase.
